Quartz glass

Quartz glass is made from silica and has a high level of purity, among other superior characteristics. Deriving its name from the process of melting quartz powder to make glass, the material can withstand temperatures up to 1000 degrees Celsius and is resistant to chemicals. Used in the production of semiconductors and optical fibres, the alluring glass possesses endless clarity.

Gold leaf

Gold leaf is produced by hammering gold bars to create exceptionally thin sheets. In the hands of experienced artisans, the leaf can be reduced to around one ten-thousandth of a millimetre in thickness. In Japan, gold leaf manufacturing and decorative techniques are believed to have been established around 1300 years ago. The lustrous gold and platinum leaf that lines Hizuki’s quartz glass is around one to two ten-thousandths of a millimetre.

Founded in 2011 in Shioya, Tochigi prefecture. Formerly a supplier of manufactured stones, E‒Stonetech renewed its business under the leadership of current president Toshio Saito. Leveraging its expertise in cutting and polishing stone, the company now produces high quality quartz glass and optical glass, crucial components for state-of-the-art precision machinery and semiconductors. The Quartz Glass series began with the cutting and polishing of Japan’s largest piece of glass, 7 metres high and weighing 4.3 tons, which was truly a sight to behold.

Hakuichi is a gold leaf manufacturer based in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa prefecture. Founded in 1977, the company started out producing everyday items to convey the appeal of Kanazawa gold leaf, providing a driving force for the growth of the traditional craft. Inheriting long-standing techniques and using them to develop new forms of expression, the company applies tradition not only to craft items, but everyday cosmetics, food and other items, along with architecture and interiors.
